pallies cant tank!! actually they can but I personally think its usually not worth the work maybe as they heal and grab extra gear that would otherwise be DE'ed maybe but i see prot as a good lvl'ing spec and thats about it. I know the discuscion that pally's can tank!! and supposedly the best in the game but for the moment it seems like a severe waste expecially until we get more healers that can do that job. But if one does get the gear I dont think having them tank is that big of a deal except that A warrior can do it better at high lvl raids.

once upon a time there a was a pally tank named Eda. As the legend goes, he supposedly tanked everything in karazhan. As word spread through the land that a paladin could tank there was much balking and disbeleif. Scholars rode to the general forums to provide their wisdom and provide theorems and postulates that this rumor of Eda was in fact a bold face lie meant to stir the commoners. As the debates went on the forum scholars managed to quell these rebellious thoughts that great healers known as paladins could ever tank. The old people that knew Eda was a tanking paladin could no longer face the wrath of the people and so Eda never got a chance to tank in Gruul. Some say he was forced to retire, others that he lost the will, still others thought it could not be done. Know one knows for sure what happened and many millenia has past since then.
Warriors became the all the rage and were sought out far and wide. Every little boy dreamed of eventually being the proud owner of his very own "Kings Defender". And paladins became synonymous with healing.
.... but in secrecy in guilds known only to a privileged select few they say that the paladin Eda still lives "tanking" with a warrior costume on.

Warrior tanks are the best tanks for single mob / boss tanking imo. Druids and pallies are off tanks because they lack in some sort of way, but pallies are best at tanking numerous amounts of mobs and dealing a substantial amount of damage at the same time.. But warriors, are all around good, with armor, dodge, miss, parry, easier for healers to heal them because they don't get hit as often and they have cool downs which can make fights end up going very smooth.

What do we lack in, in some sort of way ?
A paladin should and will have higher avoidance than a warrior based solely on the way the mechanics work, I would need this "they don't get hit as often" explained to me.
